Rising Damp

Treating rising damp involves identifying the cause, repairing the damage, and preventing it from recurring.

We will idenify the cause and ensure that the damp is truly rising damp and not caused by leaking pipes, condensation or penetrating damp from outside walls.

Signs of rising damp can iclude tide marks on walls up to 1 meter high, peeling paint and wallpaper or crumbling plaster salts on the wall surface.

Rising damp usually occurs because of a missing or failed damp-proof course

At APF we can apply different treatments to cure the rising damp which include replacing affected damp proof course and stripping away affected plaster before replacement

Dry Rot Treatments

Dry rot treatments involve identifying and eliminating the fungal infestation, repairing the affected area, and preventing recurrence.

Dry rot thrives in damp environments, so you must fix the underlying cause, leaky pipes, poor ventilation, roof leaks, rising damp etc.

All structurally compromised wood should be cut out and disposed of. Even if wood appears mostly intact, if it is infected and within 1 meter of visible rot, it should be assessed carefully.

At APF we can apply different methods of treatments that include fungicidal and replacements with pre treated wood or resistant timber.
